Round 25, 2014: An injury-ravished Sharks side travelled North to take on the Cowboys in a match where no one but those in Cronulla colours gave the visitors a hope of walking away with two points.

In what was a brave effort from the rank outsiders, the Sharks sent the match into Golden Point extra time despite trailing by seven points with only four minutes of regular time to play.

Having conceded an early try the Sharks levelled the scores at six-apiece through the good work of Michael Gordon, who sent Pat Politoni over for his first try in the NRL.

Sosaia Feki's four-pointer sent the Sharks to an unlikely lead, and he would later grab a second to keep the side in the contest.

But it was a remarkable 45-metre field goal effort - with just 27 seconds on the clock - from five-eighth Daniel Holdsworth that would send the game beyond the 80 minutes.

Holdsworth's snapshot took everyone by surprise - not least himself - and the game entered Golden Point.

Despite their best efforts, the Sharks would fall agonisingly short, when Cowboys Captain Johnathan Thurston's field-goal sent the hosts to an unassailable 20 points to 19 lead.

Re-live the Sharks gutsy effort in this week's 'Last Time They Met' highlights package, now playing on Sharks TV.
