By Jeff Petersen

After a disappointing loss at Penrith last round the Sharks do battle with the Warriors at Remondis Stadium this Saturday ready to make amends for a game that got away from them towards the end of the contest.

This is will be our 34th meeting with the New Zealand side since 1995. Currently we nudge ahead with 18 wins, 15 losses. Our home record stands at played 15, won 11 – one of the best win/loss NRL home records against the Warriors.

The Sharks have been unbeaten in their last three home games against the Warriors, averaging 5 tries per match and winning five out of our last six overall.

Former great David Peachey holds the all-time most tries scored record against the Warriors with 10, followed by Nathan Stapleton with six. Stapo raced up the all-time try scoring board versus the Kiwi side with his 4-try haul in Round 05 last season. Nathan (scoring 6 tries in total) also surpassed David’s total of 5 to lead the most tries at home against the Kiwis.

Last time the two sides met was on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Remondis. The boys played brilliantly on all sides of the park and ran away to record a 37-6 victory in what was our first win of the 2014 season.

Cronulla-Sutherland 37 (Nathan Stapleton 4, Tinirau Arona, Blake Ayshford, Sam Tagataese tries; Michael Gordon 4 goals from 7 attempts; Todd Carney field goal)

New Zealand Warriors 6 (Manu Vatuvei try; Shaun Johnson 1 goal from 1 attempt)

SHARKS FACT: Sharks skipper Paul Gallen has scored 53 career tries and has played 18 games against the Warriors but is yet to score against them. Having scored against every other club, it’s his one remaining scalp. Unfortunately with his glute injury ruling him out, Gallen won’t be breaking his Warrior duck at the game this weekend.

Go Sharks!
