The NYC Sharks will be out to avenge a heart breaking last minute loss to the Raiders in round one when they take on the Broncos on Friday night.
The Sharks showed signs of promise in their opening round defeat, with the side unlucky to have not walked away with a win after leading the match with five minutes to play.
A last-minute inclusion into the side that took to the field last Sunday at Remondis Stadium, fullback Valentine Holmes proved to be influential in both attack and defence.
The 19-year-old flyer played a crucial role in tries to Joshua Addo-Carr and Jaden Clarke, having also gone within inches of getting his own name onto the score sheet.
Not selected in James Sheppard’s team due to his name being on the NRL team sheet on an extended bench, Holmes may yet be included in the Sharks NYC side if not required in the top squad and if so his pending inclusion will be key should they hope to chalk up their first win of the 2015 season
Meanwhile in Brisbane, the NYC Broncos kick started their campaign with a comfortable 36-10 win over the Rabbitohs.
The 2014 competition runners up, the Broncos will provide a stern test for a Sharks team which has the home ground advantage on their side.
The Sharks will again look for halves Connor Tracey and Jaden Clarke, the pair both scoring two tries in the loss to the Raiders, to provide the spark, however should they hope to cause an upset the forwards will need to aim up against the highly rated Broncos pack.
Sharks fans are encouraged to get to Remondis Stadium early on Friday night to support the NYC side, with kick off scheduled for 6:20pm.
Gates to the Stadium open at 6.00pm.
