Sharks fans will need to travel to Pittwater Park in Narrabeen to see new recruit Ben Barba in Sharks colours for the first time, with the 2012 Dally M Medal winner named at five eighth for his teams trial match against Manly on Saturday.

Barba will partner Jeff Robson in the halves, with the experienced number seven named as captain of the Sharks side in the absence of Paul Gallen and Wade Graham.

Michael Ennis will also sit out the game with a minor calf strain, while a handful of NRL squad members have also been rested due to their workload at the NRL Nines last weekend.

Those players who will be a part of the trial clash with the Sea Eagles include Mitch Brown and Jayson Bukuya, two former Sharks returning the club in 2015, along with newcomers Sami Sauiluma, Saul Houma and Todd Murphy.

Also pencilled in to take on the Sea Eagles on Saturday will be fullback Michael Gordon, young winger Jacob Gagan and lock Anthony Tupou, with the trio looking to shake off the rust of pre-season and to impress in their first games in 2015.

The Sharks 26-man senior squad also includes a collection of Newtown-contracted players from the Sharks NSW Cup partner club, former Sharks Kurt Dillon, Patrice Siolo, Winstone Asotasi and Tim Robinson amongst them.

The trial against Manly is scheduled for a 5.30pm kick off at Pittwater Park, North Narrabeen, with the NYC trial match getting underway at 3.30pm.
