Both clubs have strong links with the 2013 NSW Cup success and the Sharks/Storm player lineage stemming back to Melbourne’s first NRL game at WIN Stadium against Illawarra, in which their team boasted four former Sharks (Paul Bell, Brett Kimmorley, Robbie Kearns and Tawera Nikau).

This weekend’s journey southward to AAMI Park comes back on the back of a tight one against the Warriors and once again, an ever changing first team line-up for the Sharks this season.

Cronulla’s record in Melbourne has not been fruitful in the 15 games played in down south, winning only four. However, the recent Knights victory over the Storm will put the Sharks in a more positive frame of mind, knowing a win is an attainable prospect.

Former Sharks forward and Australian international Phil Bailey has the distinction of being the Club’s highest try scorer against the Storm, with five. Four of these coming in consecutive games. On another personal player note, Mat Rogers holds the record for most points in a game versus Melbourne, scoring 18 points from 3 tries and 3 goals in the our first ever game against them at Shark Park in Round 03, 1998.

Our previous encounter at AAMI Park was a 6-38 loss in Round 13, 2013.

The Sharks line-up that day: 1.Fullback: Michael Gordon; 2.Wing: Sosaia Feki, 3.Centre: Ben Pomeroy, 4.Centre: Jonathan Wright, 5.Wing: Beau Ryan; 6.Five-Eighth: Todd Carney, 7.Halfback: Jeff Robson; 14.Lock: Chris Heighington, 12.Second Row: Wade Graham (Captain), 15.Second Row: Jayson Bukuya, 10.Front Row: Ben Ross, 9.Hooker: John Morris, 19.Front Row: Sam Tagataese. Interchange: 8.Andrew Fifita, 11.Luke Lewis, 16.Isaac De Gois, 17.Anthony Tupou. Referees: Ashley Klein & Chris James

Let’s get behind our boys, Sharkies fans.

Go Sharks!
