With a fight on their hands to cement a spot in the top eight, the NSW Cup Sharks host the Wyong Roos in a match to be played at Remondis Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Coming off a devastating 50-12 loss to the Newcastle Knights and with a depleted team due to the injuries affecting the NRL squad, the assignment will be a tough one against a Wyong team riding a wave of confidence over recent weeks.
Off-setting the injury troubles being faced at the Sharks the Storm will supply eight players to the Cronulla team on the day, with young back rower Sione Masima also making a return after a month on the sidelines with injury.
Currently eighth, the Sharks are just one point clear of the Newtown Jets and two in front of this week’s opponents the Roos, making a win on Saturday essential to their chances of qualifying for the finals.
On the flip side, in what is an extremely close NSW Cup competition, the Sharks are just two points from fifth, with three wins to end the regular season giving them a chance of a top four finish.
The match is scheduled for a 3.00pm kick-off at Remondis Stadium.
