Sharks fullback Nathan Gardner has been added to the VB NSW Cup representative team where he will join teammate Tim Robinson in the side to play Queensland Residents in a curtain-raiser to State of Origin Game 3.

Gardner, who has been an attacking standout for the NSW Cup Sharks so far this season and was also a major reason the 2013 side managed to claim the NSW Cup premiership, will now miss the Sharks match with the Newtown Jets on Saturday.

Gardner has played two games for the Sharks in the NRL this season, while he scored three tries in his last outing which was in the NSW Cup Sharks loss to the Bulldogs at Henson Park last weekend.

Sharks NSW Cup coach Tony Herman also has a role as a coaching assistant with the VB NSW Cup representative side.
