There is no rest for the NSW Cup Sharks with team set to travel to Gisborne in New Zealand to take on the New Zealand Warriors in a round 14 match.

While their NRL and NYC counterparts have a week off due to the bye, the NSW Cup team faces a strong challenge from the physical Warriors outfit, with the Sharks in search of a win after losing narrowly to the Illawarra Cutters at their last start.

The Sharks seemed in control of their match against the Cutters, leading 22-4, then 22-10 at half time, before failing to close out the match in the second half.

In the final washup a Sam Williams field goal saw the Sharks go down 23-22 and slip to seventh on the NSW Cup ladder.

This weekend the Sharks travel to the eastern side of the North Island of New Zealand and the coastal town of Gisborne to play the Warriors in territory unfamiliar to both sides.

The Sharks have selected a team which includes young fullback Valentine Holmes who was one if his teams’ best in the Cutters loss, along with experienced campaigners Matt Prior, Nathan Stapleton and Nathan Gardner.

The match is scheduled for a 3.00pm (local time – 1.00pm Sydney time) kickoff at Gisborne Rugby Park.
