They didn’t do much of it last year and don’t have plans t make it a habit in 2014, with the NSW Cup Sharks keen to bounce back from an uncharacteristic loss when they take on the Newcastle Knights on Sunday.
The reigning premiers, the Sharks were outplayed by the Illawarra Cutters last Saturday and coach Tony Herman will be hoping for an improved effort when his team travels to Hunter Stadium this weekend.
The Sharks had begun their year with two wins before the 30-22 loss to the Cutters at Remondis last week.
As for his team line up, Herman again welcomes a strong contingent of Melbourne Storm contracted players to his team, with fullback Kurt Mann and outside backs Travis Robinson and Justin O’Neil set to add some attacking options to the Sharks backline.
Again the match will present young gun Michael Lichaa with an opportunity to impress head coach Peter Sharp as he tries to force his way back into the NRL team.
The Sharks v Knights NSW Cup match is the second of three games to be played at Hunter Stadium, sandwiched in-between the NYC and NRL fixtures.
The NSW Cup match is scheduled for a 12.45pm kickoff
