Despite being down on troops due to injury and suspension affecting the NRL squad, the NSW Cup Sharks still managed to score a hard-fought 20-12 victory over the Wests Tigers last Saturday afternoon as they begun the defense of their title with a second straight win.
With Melbourne Storm half Ben Roberts directing traffic, the Sharks proved too good in the end for the Tigers, with the Cronulla team again needing solid contributions from all concerned if they hope to grind out a win in their matchup with the Illawarra Cutters.
The Sharks beat the Canterbury Bulldogs in round one and sit on the maximum four competition points after two rounds.
This week the NSW Cup Sharks add a little more NRL experience to their team, with Isaac De Gois slotting in at hooker and the Storms’ Justin O’Niell coming into the side in the centres.
The game is scheduled for a 2.40pm kickoff at Remondis, with gates to the stadium opening at 2.30pm.
