Todd Carney, Wade Graham, Blake Ayshford and Eric Grothe Junior will be amongst the stars on show on Friday night when the Sharks play their first pre-season trial for 2014.

The Sharks take on Manly at Remondis Stadium and despite the absence of a handful of their NRL team regulars, are still set to field a formidable line up against the 2013 competition runners-up.

Fans will get their first glimpse of Grothe in Sharks colours, while former Tiger Blake Ayshford, ex-Dragon Matt Prior and the experienced Daniel Holdsworth will also be making their debuts for the Cronulla club albeit in this unofficial trial outing.

Sharks interim coach Peter Sharp has decided against risking the likes of Paul Gallen and Andrew Fifita in the Manly trial, while Michael Gordon, Chris Heighington, Beau Ryan and Nathan Gardner are amongst those players recovering from various injury concerns who won’t play on Friday night but appear certain to be on deck come round one of the season proper on March 10.

At this stage only Luke Lewis and Anthony Tupou are looking as though they will be unavailable for the Sharks season-opener against the Titans, Lewis recovering from shoulder surgery and Tupou a knee reconstruction.

The NRL trial against the Sea Eagles will be played in four quarters, the first of which gets underway at 7.30pm. The NYC trial match kicks off at 5.30pm, with gates to Remondis Stadium opening at 5.15pm.

Entry for ticketed members is free, while prices for non-members are;
Adults - $15.00, Concession - $10.00, Junior - $7.50 and a family pass - $35.00. One adult plus one Junior - $20.00
