The Matthews Cup Sharks more than held their own in the early exchanges and were unlucky not to register a couple of early tries, however it was the Tigers who gained the ascendancy and went on to post a seven tries to two victory.

In the SG Ball match it was the Tigers first on the board in the opening period, before two Sharks tries, one through the middle of the ruck, the other from a well-placed kick, which had the Sharks in front.

In a physical encounter the superior size of the Tigers, the reigning SG Ball Premiers, eventually saw them gain the upper hand and edge out a narrow victory in the final wash up.

The two Sharks junior representative teams now have one final trial, against the Wests Magpies at Remondis Stadium next Saturday, before the start of their season proper on February 15.
