Australia will play Canada for the second time in the space of four days, while New Zealand tackle England in the semi-finals of the Women’s Rugby League World Cup, scheduled for Sunday at Southern Cross Group Stadium.

As a result of finishing on top of pool A, the Jillaroos take on the Ravens, the second placed team in pool B, with the winners to progress to the Final of the WRLWC.

In the other semi-final it will be the Silver Ferns and the Lionesses doing battle, after the Kiwis were undefeated through their three pool matches.

The final four was determined after the third day of pool matches at Southern Cross Group Stadium, where the Aussies scored an emphatic 88-0 win over Canada, the Cook Islands upset England and New Zealand beat PNG.

While brave in defeat and coming in with a level of confidence following their victory over PNG last Sunday, the Ravens were no match for the Jillaroos, with the Ruan Sims-led Australians virtually unstoppable with the ball in hand.

Sharks Women’s Series representative Corban McGregor scored two first half tries, Sims one for the Jillaroos who built up a commanding 44-0 lead at the break before going on with the job and replacating that score in the second period.

The Australians, who scored 18 tries in the win, had previously scored comprehensive victories over PNG and England and finished the pool stage conceding just four points in their three matches.

The Canadian girls now face the monumental task of turning around the heavy defeat with only four days to prepare for the re-match.

In the other games England were stunned by the Cook Islands, the Cooks scoring in the final seconds in recording a 22-16 win, their first victory of the Women’s World Cup. Last by by far from least on the third day of Women's World Cup action New Zealand showed they have the fire-power to match the Jillaroos with a 38-0 win over PNG.

The semi-finals of the WRLWC kick off with New Zealand v England at 1.45pm followed by Australia v Canada at 4.00pm at Southern Cross Group Stadium on Sunday.
