It's official. Season 2017 has come to a conclusion for our club with both NRL and NYC sides now out of the race for their respective titles.
Now while the year didn't go as scripted in many ways, 2017 will go down as a very special year for the Cronulla Sharks.
On the back of winning our maiden NRL Premiership, we celebrated the 50th Anniversary of our Club. 50 years of jubilation and heartbreak, we joined together to celebrate our Sharks family.
We unearthed some rich, new talent along with welcoming some new Memebrs to the Cronulla Sharks.
Jayden Brailey arrived on the NRL scene, a local junior who is destined for a fantastic career in the game. After Michael Ennis' retirment, there was a hole appearing however Jayden stood up to the challenge and can well and truly hold his head high.
Jesse Ramien also came into the minds of Sharks fans all over after his try-scoring debut against the Newcastle Knights in Round 26.
Players such as Jeremey Latimore, Tony Williams and Daniel Mortimer all came into the Black, White and Blue family, all playing in differing lengths however all having an impact on our season.
Our fearless leader Paul Gallen produced one of his most consistent on record, Valentine Holmes cemeneted himself as an Origin star, while Luke Lewis continued to produce the quality that only he knows how to.
While going down to the North Queensland Cowboys in Week 1 of the 2017 Finals Series wasn't the way we wanted to our NRL season to end, we move forward to 2018.
This season has taught us many lessons and we will learn from them. We will return in 2018 a bigger team, a better team.
For our NYC side, with no Holden Cup in 2018 there is still a slice of history which will stay with our Club forever with our young Sharks side the last team to be crowned Minor Premiers.
John Morris produced a great season however like the NRL, bowed out in crcumstances which were not up to the standards set by the team themselves. The exiciting aspect though is that our Club now has a new generation of good, quality rugby league players.
Despite not playing at the time of year when every person involved in the game wants to be playing, 2017 should still be a season our Club looks back on and sees the positives.
We will be stronger together. We are a tribe. We are a family.
