Local product Valentine Holmes will return to Townsville to take on the team he grew up idolising however this time, he wants a new victor.
Moving to Sydney to play in the Cronulla Sharks junior rugby league program, Holmes' allegiances shifted to the black, white and blue and have remained there ever since.
However, despite moving away from the north Queensland city, Holmes says he has kept a close eye on the Cowboys this year and knows just what threat they will pose to his side tonight.
"Their resilience has been really good in recent weeks," says Holmes.
"Their young forwards have been coming up and have been playing really well. I know Patty Moga and he played last week and went really well.
"They've all been going well so we definately have a big challenge on our hands."
The NRL season is a tough beast and Valentine admitted that.
Holmes understands that the past few weeks have been tough on his side however he believes that his side is not the only one suffering at the back end of the year.
"Every team sort of steps up towards the end of the year and theres been a few other teams that have had pretty bad loses too so we're not the only one and hopefully we can just turn it around now."
And with family ties running off the field, Holmes will bring it on the field when he lines up against Michael Morgan who is engaged to Holmes' girlfriend's sister. A true family affair!
Holmes knows just how important Morgan has been to the Cowboys over recent weeks and says the Sharks must be on their game when the strongly-built half gets moving.
"He's been a massive part of the team since JT and the other older boys have gone, especially Gavin Cooper so he's been pretty much the rock of the team, him and Jake Granville and (Lachlan) Coote so it's the top three there that we'll sort of be targeting."
