In a continuation of their association the Cronulla Sharks tonight welcomes The Beauty Bank is the game day charity partner.

Already a “signature charity partner” with the Sharks, The Beauty Bank, a local charity founded in 2013 which looks to provide life’s ‘little luxuries’ to those in need, will be around the ground at Southern Cross Group Stadium taking collections to help further the outstanding work already being done.

Tonight’s game day partnership coincides with the NRL’s Women in League round.

Started by Sutherland Shire mother of two Jen Armstrong, The Beauty Bank provides packs of unused and unopened toiletries and beauty products (made up from donations) and distributes them to refuges and shelters for women (and men), in particular for those who have suffered domestic violence.

“To date I have helped over 1000 women in need and I can't wait to take it to the next level,” Armstrong said when the partnership with the Sharks was announced 12 more than two years ago.

“The Cronulla Sharks’ support of The Beauty Bank means that this will be possible. Through their stewardship and community initiatives, I will be able to reach more survivors of domestic violence.”

“Thanks to their promotion of this charity, more gift packs will be able to be distributed to those in need. Their long-standing goodwill within the community and positive approach to being 'more than just a football club' will help The Beauty Bank achieve its goals of becoming a charitable organisation that is well managed, inclusive and is able to assist many more women and men in need than they have to date.”

The charity’s social workers aim to assist victims of domestic violence. Armstrong said it is important to support those women – and men – who may be feeling the impacts of an abusive relationship.

“Those nice little things, if you’re having a tough time, it’s going to put a smile on your face – hopefully,” said Armstrong.

“It’ll be great to collect as much as we can to make up some gift packs and to help out some more women in need.”
