The Sharks Women’s series team has continued their winning ways with an entertaining 24-10 win over the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Southern Cross Group Stadium.

The Sharks gave up first points but from that point dominated proceedings, four unanswered tries confirming the win before a late Souths four-pointer brought the scores closer together at full time.

An error from the Sharks gifted Souths field position and they immediately took advantage with a try out wide to Lavina O’Mealey.

The conversion was waved away but the visitors had taken an early 4-0 lead.

The Sharks worked their way back into the match and it was a long-range try that would see them take the lead, Corban McGregor scoring on the back of a smart attacking movement down the western side of the field.

Jordan Baker was on target with her kick at goal and the Sharks led 6-4.

Now with their tails up the Sharks went back on the attack and on the end of a clever passing movement Jessica Sergis would find some space, touching down for her teams second try of the night.

Baker again added the extra two and the Sharks had a 12-4 advantage, a lead they would take into the half time break.

After Souths failed to collect the kick off to start the second period the Sharks attacked once again and on this occasion it was hooker Rita Maynard showing good footwork to step through from close range and score 10-metres left of the uprights.

Baker kept her perfect record intact and the Sharks led 18-4.

Now ramming home their advantage it was Sergis once again, this time sprinting away on a 70-metre run to ensure the Sharks would claim the points and an impressive victory against a Rabbitohs team who extremely competitive but not quite good enough on the night.

Souths managed a consolation try, courtesy of a brilliant individual effort from Courtney Talon, converted by O’Mealey in rounding out the scoring.

The Sharks Women’s Series team now has six wins and just one loss from their seven games so far this season.
