Following on from a draw against competition leaders Penrith last weekend the NYC Sharks have turned on an outstanding attacking display in belting the Titans at Southern Cross Group Stadium.
The Sharks showed great enthusiasm, running strongly and defending stoutly in scoring nine tries and proving far too good for their opponents in a 52-16 victory.
It took the Sharks just eight minutes to post first points via a try to Kyle Flanagan and when the number seven converted his own touchdown it was 6-0 Sharks.
From there the first half was something of a procession as the Sharks threw the ball around and exploited some less than stellar Gold Coast defense.
Winger Johnathan Tufuga went over first, his left centre partner Bessie Aufaga-Toomaga scored next, before big Eddie Faalua and backrower Tony Matautia also managed to get the ball down over the line.
Kyle Flanagan was successful in converting all but one of the Sharks tries and at half time it was 28-0 to the home team.
Whatever was said to the Titans at the break didn’t have too much impact in the early moments of the half, with Faalua crashing over for a second almost before the coaches had settled in their seats.
Flanagan was again on target and the Sharks had extended their advantage to 34-0.
From there the Titans did respond, notching their first points with a try close to the posts, before the Sharks pushed the lead out again, Matautia scoring a second and when Flanagan slotted the conversion it was 40-6.
Hooker Blayke Brailey barged over a second try and when the extras were added it was 46-6, before the Sharks took their foot of the pedal somewhat as the Gold Coast scored twice in making it 46-16.
The Sharks finished the scoring with a Sione Katoa try as they chalked up a half century in an impressive display albeit against a disappointing Gold Coast side.
The wins sees the Sharks move to 11 competition points in consolidating their place inside the top four on the NYC ladder.
