Sharks backrower Wade Graham today extended his stay at the Sharks until at least the end of the 2019 season in signing a new two-year deal.

Graham, the Sharks captain-in-waiting and currently team Vice Captain, was thrilled and relieved at the same time to be able to get his contract negotiations finalised.

“Another two years, I’m really excited to get it done it’s a good bit of security for my future,” Graham said.

An integral member of the Sharks premiership winning team in 2016, Graham was rewarded for his consistently strong performances with a debut appearance in the NSW Origin team last year.

While playing for the Blues was a highlight, being a part of the Sharks first premiership winning team was the icing on the cake. Graham also spoke about the importance of trying to keep the competition winning side together and was pleased Matt Prior had joined him today in extending his time at the Cronulla club.

“I was so grateful and happy to be a part of it and to try to build on it and having another two years to do that, I’m really looking forward to it,” he said.

“Keeping that group of players together is always a bonus and I’m stoked to have guys like Matty (Prior) and Val re-sign is great and I hope there is more to come in the future.”

Since joining the Sharks in 2011 from the Panthers, Graham has gone on to play 140 top grade games in Cronulla colours, 182 match in total in the NRL.

He played his one and only Origin match in game three last year in a NSW team that was victorious over Queensland.

Graham spoke to Sharks TV shortly after signing his new contract.
