Arriving at the Club both hopeful and confident of making his name known, new recruit Manaia Cherrington is set for his first hit-out in Sharks colours at next wekeend's Auckland Nines tournament.

Named by Coach Shane Flanagan's squad to travel to Eden Park, Cherrington said he's happy to put the graft and grind of pre-season behind him, to now focus on doing his job for his new team.

"I can't wait to get back over to New Zealand and to play in front of my family and friends," Cherrington said.

"I'm really looking forward to putting the Sharks jumper on for the first time, it'll be an awesome feeling.

"It's been tough, but it's been a pre-season I've really enjoyed ... It's been a fresh start for me, and I've moved out this way too. I just can't wait to play some footy."
