Cowboys Head Coach Paul Green has confirmed that fatigue will play a part when his side runs out for tonight’s match at Allianz Stadium.

Playing a 90-minute thriller against the Brisbane Broncos in their last start, along with a bruising encounter with the Melbourne Storm, the Cowboys have experienced a tough fortnight of rugby league.

Green was first to admit that his side are likely to feel the pinch in one particular way.

“I think it’s probably more physical,” said Green.

“Mentally the boys are good.

“They’re excited about playing footy this time of year but no doubt last Friday night’s game went for 90 minutes and it was a pretty epic game so it took a fair bit out of them."

The Cowboys were forced to alter their training week to suit the shorter turn around and Green admits that although it is a unknown variable he thinks his side are prepared as best they can for when they run onto the field.

“We won’t really know how they’ve responded until we get to the game I suppose whether we get through the 80 minutes or potentially longer but at this point in time, we’ve managed the week really well in terms of training and the boys are feeling pretty good at this stage.”

With 80 minutes left for one of these teams tonight, both sides will be giving their all when the first referee whistle is blown.
