A shoulder injury to Sam Tagataese could see the hard running prop miss the remainder of the 2016 season.

While there is a slight chance he could return sometime in the finals, Sharks Coach Shane Flanagan will be making plans to replace Tagataese for the last four weeks of the regular season and for an indefinite period after that.

Tagataese suffered the injury in the match against the Canberra Raiders last Saturday and while initially the problem appeared minor, subsequent scans have revealed significant damage.

In other injury news Ricky Leutele has trained strongly and is a chance of being selected in the Sharks 17 for the Dragons match this weekend. Leutele has been fit and available for the past two Sharks matches however Flanagan has preferred to stick with the proven left hand side combination of Gerard Beale and Sosaia Feki.

On the subject of Michael Ennis, the Sharks inspirational number nine has overcome the illness which saw him sidelined for the Raiders game and will also be on board to face St George Illawarra on Saturday.

In injury news relating to the Sharks extended squad, Anthony Moraitis has been cleared to return after missing the Newtown Jets last match due to a concussion suffered the previous week.

The status of Jordan Drew however is less than positive, with the young Queenslander undergoing shoulder surgery today and set to sit out the rest of the 2016 season.

The Sharks and Newtown team lists will be announced at 5.00pm today.
