In what was a surprise to most in the NRL world, Sharks hooker and League veteran Michael Ennis today announced his decision to end his career, come the completition of season 2016.

A 14-year career spanning across five clubs, Ennis' decision comes on the back of his own terms, saying he feels that now was the right time to call it a day.

"It's time to be a dad," Ennis said, with his four young children by his side.

"It's been a great career, and one that I'm most certainly proud of."
