Young Sharks supporter Sienna Bergman, a fun loving 13-year-old Kirrawee High student, had her world turned upside down when recently diagnosed with Ewings sarcoma, a bone cancer that affects children, mainly teenagers.

Sienna has started long-term chemotherapy, with her treatments to then include bone surgery and post-operative rehabilitation at the Sydney Children's Hospital, where she will receive the best care possible on her road to recovery.

Before her illness Sienna was also a keen and accomplished dancer, with the dance community set to get behind her in an effort to lift her spirits and to help with fundraising initiatives.

This year the annual 2016 Sharks Dance Spectacular will be dedicated to Sienna, with the 1,100 performers to dedicate their routine to her in a collective show of support.

The dance spec dancers will form an ‘S’ at the end of the performance in letting Sienna and the Bergman family know both the dance community and the Cronulla Sharks are right behind them. #DanceForSienna

Annually one of the biggest nights on the Sharks home game calendar, the Dance Spectacular will involve around 1,100 performers from 20 dance academies (see the list below), as well as a group from NSW Baton Twirling.

Jacqueline-lee Elliott from JLD Entertainment, who coordinates and choreographs the Sharks Mermaids, is in charge of the creative for the Dance Spectacular, which is scheduled to take place at half time of the NRL match between the Sharks and Eels.

As for Sienna, many friends and families have expressed a desire to help her family in any way they can, with a Go Fund Me campaign having been set up with a goal of raising $70,000.

This campaign will help the Bergman’s with the extensive medical costs, the loss of income when mum and dad need to time off work to be with Sienna, along with anything she may need to make her recovery as comfortable and stress free as possible.

Just recently, Jayson Bukuya and Ricky Leutele were accompanied by Sharks Mermaids Ally and Christine on a surprise visit to see Sienna at her home in the Sutherland Shire.
