In a narrow loss to the New Zealand Warriors at their last start it was a less than impressive first half, followed by a spirited second period comeback, with Sharks NYC Coach John Morris certain to be looking for a committed 80-minute performance this weekend against what is a strong Eels side.

The NYC Sharks fell behind the Warriors by 30-6 before battling back, at one stage trailing by just two points before being beaten 36-32, with enough positives coming from the performance to suggest the young Cronulla side can be more than competitive against the third-placed Eels this Saturday.

Now seventh, the game becomes a crucial one for a Sharks team looking to consolidate a place inside the top eight.

With the NYC ladder tightly bunched, the Sharks could be as high as fourth, as low as eighth, depending on the Eels result on Saturday.

Kick-off to the NYC match is at 5.15pm at Southern Cross Group Stadium.
