Against a club where he spent the 2014 season, Jayson Bukuya was fired up for a big performance on Saturday night and he certainly delivered in the Sharks win over the Warriors.

As he has throughout 2016 Bukuya added some much-need impact when thrown into the game at around the 30-minute mark of the first half, with his foot-work and strong running troubling the New Zealand defence.

In what was an added bonus, Bukuya was awarded a penalty try after he was dragged down by Warriors lock Simon Mannering while leading the chase to a Michael Ennis grubber kick in the southern-end in-goal at Southern Cross Group Stadium.

The try turned out to be a crucial one, with the Sharks scaping home due to a James Maloney field goal in golden point extra time.

At the post-match presentation in the Sharks Leagues Club after the game Bukuya was recognised for his efforts by being given both the Player’s Player and Coaches awards for his efforts on the night.

On Sunday Bukuya spoke to the ABC Grandstand hosts Andrew Moore and Matt Elliott. Hear what he had to say below.
