Cronulla coaching staff and supporters will be watching on with a keen eye tonight when four Sharks players go around for NSW in State of Origin game 2.

Paul Gallen, James Maloney, Andrew Fifita and Jack Bird do battle with the Queenslanders in a bid to even the series, however more pressing for the Sharks will be their fitness and ability to back up on Saturday night at Southern Cross Group Stadium against the Warriors.

Stay tuned to the Sharks website tomorrow for information as to the health and fitness of the Origin foursome.

Closer to the home and the Sharks trained strongly this morning with their field session featuring speed and agility, ball work and contact drills, with the mood understandably positive for a team riding a 10-match winning streak.

Wade Graham was on deck after his Origin suspension disappointment, while winger Sosaia Feki completed the full session and appears to have fully recovered from the groin strain which kept him out of the Cowboys match.

In as far as the 18 players named in the NRL side for Saturday’s game, there were no other injury concerns.

As for others in the full-time NRL group, there were a number of minor injuries set to side-lined a handful of players for Newtown’s round 16 match on Saturday.

Jacob Gagan was assisted from the field in the 15th minute of the Jets win over New Zealand with a hamstring strain, and while not rated as serious, the strongly built winger is expected to miss two matches.

Jordan Drew, missing for the Jets last Saturday, has knee and shoulder problems and while neither are deemed to be serious, the injuries are likely to keep him sidelined for the round 16 ISP match against the Panthers on Saturday. He also missed the game against the Warriors at Henson Park last Saturday.

Finally in regards to the Sharks casualty ward, Junior Roqica continues his recovery from a foot injury and is hopeful of being available for the Jets deferred match which is scheduled to be played on Friday, July 1.
