In a tough, dour game of State of Origin football, NSW have come up just short in going down by 6-4 to Queensland in game one of the 2016 series.
NSW peppered their opponents line for long periods of the second half but in the end the Queensland defense held firm, with each team coming up with just one try each.
The three Sharks in action all performed admirably, with Paul Gallen his typical self in the middle of the field, James Maloney throwing the final pass for his teams' only try and Andrew Fifita providing a point of difference when injected into the game shortly after the half time break.
The teams now move onto game two at Suncorp Stadium with NSW having it all to do should they hope to end Queensland's State of Origin dominance.

In the early game the NSW Under 16's, featuring three Sharks youngsters, held on to record a 12-10 victory over Queensland.
Of the three Sharks Bronson Xerri was solid out wide, scoring an impressive first half try, Franklin Pele toiled hard in the forwards while Isaac Longmuir had good impact when injected into the game from the interchange bench.
