Description -

Gallen wound back the clock with a great diving effort to score

Paul Gallen’s 17th minute try to take the Sharks out to a 10-2 lead was just his second of the season, but by far the best he’s scored from recent memory.

Mick Ennis’ deft grubber close to the posts is a trick not new, but an unfamiliar face in the form of Gallen trailed through to score a well deserved try.

Gallen’s desire to get to the ball ahead of the Broncos’ speedster Anthony Milford was on show for all to see, and a sign that the 34-year-old has plenty of life in the legs still yet.

Holmes went looking for work, and set the Sharks in motion

A trusted figure on the Sharks right edge, Valentine Holmes yesterday spent plenty of time in the middle of the park in going about making some tough metres at crucial times.

Holmes’ charges set the Sharks on the front foot in reducing the work load of his forwards, and always looking likely of busting the line, proved a threat for the Broncos defence.

A back on the bench again proves a handy selection

With Gerard Beale promoted to the starting side at the expense of Ricky Leutele, Coach Flanagan’s decision to opt for an outside back on the bench again proved a smart choice when Sosaia Feki went down injured late in the first half.

Unable to return to the field in the second half, Feki’s absence saw Beale partner Leutele on the left edge, once more showing the depth in the Club’s stocks.

Broncos resilience shows why they’re the premiership favourites

You could forgive a side for rolling over when they’re down by 22 at the break – a task too much for some, but not the Broncos.

With Wayne Bennett’s words reverberating in their ears, the men from Brisbane came out firing in the second half, to get back within a whisker of snatching the points.

A mental toughness on display, the Broncos proved why they’re the punters pick for the would-be premiers after 9 rounds.

Sharks form warrants rep selections

Eleven Sharks players won selection for their respective outfits as announced on Sunday evening, proving that the side’s successes at Club level has caught the eyes of better judges.

The Sharks are again expected to lose a host of players around Origin time, such is the price a team's successes.
