Sharks Mermaid's Choreographer and Co-ordinator Jacqueline-Lee Elliott (nee Doran) has every reason to be excited about the upcoming season with the auditions for the 2016 squad set to take place next week.

Elliott guided a Mermaids group, rated by many to be the benchmark for NRL cheerleading squads, throughout an exciting 2015 season, with game day entertainment in 2016 ready to take off to an even higher level.

"We raised the bar this year," Elliott said. "We had some great material to put on the field for the fans and it was the best year yet.

"The standard and quality was high and we also introduced Jess Colless the Australian Baton Twirling champion who was just phenomenal.

"For next year we've got so many ideas and the first game will be huge. It's going to be exciting."

So the invitation goes out to dancers, acrobats, gymnasts and twirlers with ability and ambition to be a part of the Sharks Mermaids squad for the upcoming season.

Hopeful applicants will perform in front of a cast of judges, with the successful squad to be selected on criteria of dance ability, physical fitness, personality, appearance and poise.

As well as performing front and centre prior to the Sharks home games, there are a number of benefits of becoming a Mermaid for 2016, with uniforms and apparel provided, added to the potential earning exposure through media events and community promotions!
