The weather progressively warmed up during the Sharks training week, with the team sweating through temperatures in the high 30’s on Thursday and Friday as pre-season preparations continued.

The NRL squad completed four field and three strength sessions, with the group also getting together for defensive contact at the Sutherland PCYC late on Friday afternoon.

Tomorrow morning the boys return for weights and extras in the Sharks HPU to finish off the training week.

Monday will see the return of Paul Gallen, James Maloney and Michael Ennis to full training, with Gerard Beale who has only recently returned from the New Zealand Tour of the UK, the last player yet to report, with the Kiwi international to resume on November 30.

The new faces seem to have fit seamlessly into the Sharks set up, with Jesse Sene-Lafao and Chad Townsend two players impressing with efforts in the physical conditioning activities.

Of the others, Josh Cleeland is learning and improving with each ball work session, while young centre Jordan Drew is getting better with each day as he familiarises himself with the new systems and also with his Sharks teammates.

Early indications are that the experienced Joseph Paulo will certainly be an asset to the Sharks once the season rolls around, with Kurt Capewell inching closer to a return to full training as his recovery from minor knee surgery continues.

Monday will see another new recruit enter the fray, with talented hooker/utility Matt McIlwrick set to begin his career as a Cronulla Shark.

Sharks website media caught a little bit of the action at training from Friday morning, with a highlights video now playing.
