On what was a cold, rain-sodden night at Remondis Stadium, the Sharks edged the defending premiers 18 points to 10, with hooker Michael Ennis playing a leading role in the side's win.

Ennis delivered in the form of his craft, in laying on two try assists - both from grubbers - to see his side score a valuable two competition points.

But in testing conditions, Ennis' work without the ball also stood firm.

Ennis completed 32 tackles - missing only 2 - as the Sharks went about hanging on against a fast-finishing Souths outfit.
