The Cronulla Sharks scored a convincing 40 points to 18 victory over the Wests Tigers in Round 24, and the 22-point win came at just the right time for Shane Flanagan and his men, who returned to fifth place on the NRL ladder with two matches in hand.

The Sharks took a 20-6 lead back into the sheds at half time, before the visitors fought back to reduce the margin to six when Martin Taupau and Curtis Sironen crossed for tries to bring life back into the contest.

But the Sharks would earn a slice of luck, and Valentine Holmes swooped to turn a half-chance into six points as he collected a loose ball and streaked away to score.

On an afternoon where the Sharks were placed under plenty of pressure in the latter stages, the hosts would go on to round out a 40 points to 18 victory, in front of 15,738 fans at the Remondis Stadium.

In scoring 40 points - the most in any of the Club's fixtures this season - the Sharks recorded a commanding victory. Was it their best?
