Michael Gordon was everywhere on Saturday, cleaning up kicks and ticklish situations in defence, while all who saw the game would be aware of the heroics of Valentine Holmes who crossed for two tries and had a major impact on the match.

The stats backed up what everybody suspected, with Gordon and Holmes both running for over 200 metres in what were outstanding individual performances in the win over the Tigers.

On the other end of the scale the Sharks managed to keep young Tigers superstar James Tedesco relatively quiet. While the young fullback had 15 runs throughout the match he was restricted to 143 metres and never broke the Sharks defensive line.

In the forwards despite having a little breather midway through the second half, Paul Gallen was his usual self, carting the ball up 20 times for 160 run metres, to go with his 25 tackles, while Luke Lewis was dangerous almost every time he touched the ball with his two line breaks, one for a try, testimony to that.

As for the team stats, they pretty much told the story of the game, with the Sharks enjoying 57 per cent of possession, while completing 69 per cent of their sets and they ran for 1791 metres with the ball in hand, over 500 metres more than their opponents.
