Young Sharks Lachlan Smith, Dylan Smith, Jaemon Salmon and Luke Metcalf will swap the blue, black and white of Cronulla for a blue NSW jersey tonight when they turn out for their state in an under-16’s match against Queensland.

The four earned selection for NSW as a result of their outstanding performances for the Matthews Cup Sharks during the 2015 junior rep season, a year in which the under 16 Sharks won both NSW and National titles.

Lachlan Smith was inspirational for the Sharks as lock and captain, Dylan Smith safe, consistent and a threat with ball in hand at fullback, while half back and goal kicker Metcalf was the competitions leading point scorer.

As for back-rower Salmon, the De La Salle junior came into his own late in the season with a man-of-the-match performance in the Matthews Cup Grand Final and a stand-out effort in the National Final against the Townsville Stingers the following week.

The NSW 16’s, including the four local Cronulla products, tonight take on Queensland in the curtain raiser to State of Origin game one at ANZ Stadium.

Kick off to that match is 6.00pm, with the NSWRL.com.au website live streaming all the action for those not going to ANZ Stadium tonight or for spectators unable to get to the ground for the early match.
