The lives of NRL players are dominated by training, games and recovery sessions, add to that family responsibilities, the fact that a good percentage also study in setting themselves up for possible careers post football, while entire NRL squad take part in community engagement activities, both those organised by the club and often others they take on during their own time.

The huge misconception is that NRL players have too much spare time, when the opposite is in fact the case, with their busy schedules leaving very little time to pursue other activities and interests.

But when the opportunity does arises many attempt to get out and about and to tackle some of their favoured pastimes, with the Sharks having a handful of surfers, a couple of golfers, Luke Lewis and Paul Gallen love nothing more than to get out on the open road on their Harley’s, while Anthony Tupou is a budding DJ.

In this the first in a series of Sharks TV interviews, produced to coincide with a members-only calendar where we’ve snapped some photographs of the players out of their playing strip and away from the field, we talk to Wade Graham.

Having recently purchased a new set of PING Golf clubs, as well as a membership to the Stonecutters Ridge course near Blacktown where his father is also a member, Graham talks about his golfing passion and how it helps him relax away from the pressures of the NRL.

See his interview with Sharks reporter Liam Tapper, now playing on Sharks TV.
