There was no easing back into the New Year for the Sharks NRL contingent, with the players taking part in a strenuous field session on the back training fields at Remondis Stadium today.

The players went through contact drills, ball work and conditioning under a hot summer sun as preparations continued for the 2015 season.

Coach Shane Flanagan in his first Sharks TV interview of the New Year was extremely satisfied with the attitude and effort shown by his group, going as far as to say Wednesday’s field session was perhaps the best of the entire pre-season.

In a brief catch up with the coach, Flanagan spoke about a range of topics, from the session today, to the upcoming Auckland Nines and the outstanding input of skipper Paul Gallen who has trained the house down on the field, while also preparing in the ring for an upcoming boxing bout on January 31.

See Sharks TV, with the first Flanagan interview for 2015 now playing.
