Junior Sharks impressive against Souths
The Sharks Matthews Cup and SG Ball squads more than held their own in trial matches played at Erskinville Oval against Souths last Friday night.

In their first hit out of the pre-season the under 16 Matthews Sharks started the ball rolling with an impressive six tries to three triumph (no goal kicks) in the match played over three 20-minute periods.

The SG Ball clash followed with Souths grabbing the ascendency early and leading by two tries at the first break. The teams were scoreless in the second period however from there the Sharks rallied, three tries as opposed to one from the Rabbits seeing the trial end in a 3-try all draw.

The two young Sharks squads will take a break soon from their pre-season preparations before returning to training in early January. They then have three trial matches before the start of the junior rep season on February 14.

Schoolboys downed in Second Test
The Australia Schoolboys team, including Sharks juniors Jayden Brailey, Ash Nisbet and new recruit Keenan Yorston from Brisbane, have gone down by 28-14 to the England Academy team in the second Test Match played in Leigh in the UK last Friday.

After narrowly winning the first Test the Australians struggled to match the British outfit in the second clash in what were cold and miserable conditions.

The England team took a 10-8 lead to the half time break before extending their advantage to 16-8 early in the second period. The Australians narrowed the margin to two points once again with a converted try but from their the Academy boys took control, two more tries seeing them lock up the two-game series at one win apiece.

Nisbet, playing in the back row for the Aussies, scored a first half four-pointer for his side.

The Australian Schoolboys have two more games against the French under 19’s in Perpignan and Toulouse to complete their tour. Connor Tracey, left out of the England Academy Test matches, is expected to play in the first game against the French on Tuesday morning (Sydney time).

Sharks Christmas Blitz
This Wednesday, December 17, the Sharks will continue their interaction with the community when they conduct their annual ‘Community Christmas Blitz’.

The Sharks will visit Sylvanvale special needs pre-school at Kirrawee, as well as Sutherland Hospital and the Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick, distributing toys kindly donated by the  Sylvania Waterways Residents.

At least six from the NRL squad will drop by at each venue on Wednesday afternoon as they look to spread some ‘Sharks Christmas spirit’ and engage with individuals and families who are in need of support during the Christmas period.

The visits also allow the players to make a difference in the community and by visiting these sick children at this special time of the year gives them a sense of appreciation for the privileged positions they hold.

Sharks Corporate Golf Day
The team of Steve Waters, Justin Ressler and Dax de Trautenberg and including Sharks NRL player Tinirau Arona, took away the major prize at a successful Sharks corporate golf day held at the Woolooware Golf Club on Friday.

Under the 4-man Ambrose format the winning team shot a sizzling 11-under par score off the stick and when combined with their handicaps, the group narrowly edged out the runners-up in the team from Active Air who are Sharks corporate partners.

About a dozen Sharks NRL squad members played golf on the day, with Wade Graham and Kyle Stanley amongst those to show some decent form with a club in their hands.

Following golf was a panel discussion attended by Paul Gallen, Luke Lewis, Michael Ennis, Mitch Brown and Graham, with the players covering off on their pre-season preparations and how the team is shaping up ahead of the Christmas training break.

Thanks to corporate partner Drummond Golf, the major sponsors of the Sharks Corporate Golf Day and to the Woolooware Golf Club for their hospitality.

2015 NRL Draw - #SharksDraw2015
With the release of the NRL Telstra Premiership draw today, NRL.COM produced a number of articles in support of the season schedule unveiling, with one of their editorials coming up with a list of what they believe to be their biggest games of 2015.

Interestingly, two of those matches in their top 10 involved the Sharks.

The round 20 clash, scheduled as a return to Belmore day, the suburban ground representing the spiritual home of the Bulldogs, was highlighted as a game to watch. With Michael Ennis coming up against his former club and in direct opposition to Sharks transfer Michael Lichaa for the first time, it is certain to be a game attracting plenty of interest.

Also making the top 10 was the Sharks round 12 game with the Dragons at Jubilee Oval, a match-up set to feature a number of ex-Dragons who will be keen to make an impression against their old club.
