The audition process is complete and a final squad has been assembled, with the Sharks Oporto Mermaids ready to deliver their special brand of entertainment once again during the 2015 NRL season.

Prospective Oporto Mermaids from near and far descended on the Jazz It Up studio in Caringbah, all with the common goal of winning a place on the squad for next season.

The initial application number of more than 50 was trimmed back to 35 for stage two of the process, then from there Sharks Oporto Mermaids Coordinator Jacquie Doran and her selection panel came up with a final squad of 22, made up of 11 returning Mermaids and 11 newcomers.

All will bring their special talents to the 2015 squad, with Doran as Choreographer and Mermaids Coordinator taking on the responsibility of bringing the group together and putting that special polish on their performances.

With the talent on hand, Doran was excited about the prospects of the Oporto Mermaids for the coming year.

“There was some great talent which came through the door tonight,” Doran said following the auditions. “We have a really solid squad for 2015.”

And as for next season and the Sharks Oporto Mermaids, Doran didn’t want to reveal too much about what was planned, only to assure Sharks fans there will be plenty to look forward to in 2015.

“There are some exciting new things in store. We have a few tricks up our sleeve but everyone will just have to wait until 2015 to see what they are,’’ she added.

Sharks TV was on hand to catch some of the action, with returning Mermaid Alex grabbing a microphone and getting amongst the girls for a few reactions during the audition night.
