As a part of their recruitment the club brings in a number of young regional, interstate and overseas players in to represent the Sharks at SG Ball and NYC level, with the hope being these young men can develop into future NRL stars.
In making their transition to the club and to the Sutherland Shire, it is seen as an advantage to their assimilation and to their development for them to be in a stable family environment, hence the Sharks are making a request for Homestay assistance.
The Club is looking for families in the Sutherland Shire or in close proximity to the local area who would be willing and able to accommodate young elite Sharks Players who have joined the club for the 2015 NYC and Junior rep seasons.
These young players will benefit from a family environment in order to support them in their dreams of one day playing in the NRL competition.
Players will be attending school locally, pursuing an apprenticeship/traineeship or working fulltime, whilst fulfilling their training and playing commitments with the Club.
Typically they will be between the ages of 16-19 and we would envisage they live with a Homestay Family from between one to two years depending on their circumstances.
With a number of players looking to move into the area and to begin their training prior to Christmas, the club is also looking for temporary Homestay Families to assist until longer term accommodation can be arranged.
Anything from a couple of weeks to a month would be of great assistance to the young players and to the club.

An example of how this system has enjoyed proven results in recent times, Jamayne Isaako, the Sharks NYC Player’s Player in 2014, arrived from New Zealand as a 17-year-old and has thrived both on and off the field while living with a Sharks Homestay Family.
Homestay Families are duly compensated to the cover the costs of associated with hosting a young Sharks player.
