Led by a man of the match performance from Sharks NYC player Jamayne Isaako, Endeavour Sports High School have claimed the prestigious GIO Schoolboy Cup by beating Patrician Brothers Blacktown 22-12 in the final.

In a match played at Kogarah Jubilee Oval, Endeavour jumped out to an early 12-0 lead before going to the half time break up by 18-6.

While their opponents showed plenty of determination to fight their way back into the contest in the second period Endeavour held firm, with a late try to Isaako sealing the win for his team.

Just last night Isaako was named the Sharks NYC Players Player for 2014 at the clubs’ Monty Porter Medal presentation night, with the gifted centre taking his good recent form into today’s match. His performance in the final earning Isaako, who scored two and set up one of the tries of the season, the GIO Most Trusted award for man of the match.

The Endeavour side was coached by Sharks Under 20’s coach Dave Howlett, with a number of Cronulla NYC and SG Ball squad members included in the side.

The win by Endeavour was their first since 2006 and it came 10 years after their first win in the national Schoolboy Cup back in 2004. The victory over Patrician Brothers also exacted some sort of revenge with the Blacktown school having beaten Endeavour in the 2012 competition final and the 2013 Semi-Final match.
