Sharkies Leagues Club has allocated and distributed almost $45,000 worth of grant funding to Sutherland Shire community organisations through the NSW ClubGRANTS Program.

Sharks Director Darren McConnell was on hand last Wednesday to present the cheques on behalf of Sharkies as a part of the NSW Government and Clubs NSW ClubGRANTS initiative.

ClubGRANTS aims to provide funding for community projects and services that have a direct impact on local communities. Funded by gaming machine tax rebates, ClubGRANTS are administered by a Committee comprised of eligible Clubs in the immediate area, as well as by the local Council, the NSW Department of Community Services and an independent representative.

McConnell presented the cheques to four organisations, all of whom were extremely appreciative of the funds which will enable them to continue to build their community projects.

Sharkies ClubGRANTS were distributed to;

•             Project Youth - $20,000 for their Youth Drop In centre at Kurnell

•             Rainbow Club - $14,060 for a learn to swim program for kids with disabilities

•             South Eastern Sydney Medicare Local Limited - $5000 for a Youth Reference Group at Headspace Miranda

•             Cronulla Sutherland District Junior Rugby Football league Incorporated - $5,000 for their Special Needs Rugby League initiative
