Sosaia Feki scores a try : National Rugby League

With Cronulla’s visit to a chilly Carrington Park in Bathurst this Saturday, fans with long memories should still recall a few of the games played at this high-top arena.

Carrington Park was the venue of the 2001 City v Country clash in which the Country blitzed the City boys 42-10 in front of an enthusiastic crowd of just under 9,000.

This ground has also been a popular stage for the former mid-week competition matches. The National Panasonic Cup showed games there for five consecutive years, from 1984 through to 89, then Channel Ten’s Challenge Cup in 1990, following by the Toohey’s Challenge Cup in 1992.

The Sharks file shows we have a Played-2 Won-2 record at Bathurst… these results being a 20 to 8 National Panasonic Cup victory over Canberra in 1987 and a gutsy 20-16 win over Manly in 1992 in the Tooheys Challenge Cup.

On the reverse of the coin Penrith boast the same 2-0 record at this ground. Defeating Parramatta 18-10 in the 1985 National Panasonic Cup and a Western Suburbs outfit 21 to 10 in the 1990 Channel Ten Challenge Cup.

Go Sharks!
