Junior reps to trial in Canberra

After sweating through a demanding pre-season under the hot summer sun, the Sharks junior rep teams get their chance to impress the coaches and push for places in the respective teams when they travel to Canberra on Saturday for trial matches against the Raiders.
In what are their first trials of the New Year, the Matthews Cup and SG Ball Sharks are expected to come up against some stern opposition in the traditionally strong Canberra club as they build towards the competition kick off in less than a month's time.
As for the trial on Saturday, the Sharks Matthews Cup under 16's tackle the Raiders at 1pm on Saturday, before the SG Ball Sharks and the Raiders Ball squad come together at 2.30pm.
The matches will be played at Kippax Oval at West Belconnen in the ACT.
The pre-season matches for both squads continue on the following Friday when the Sharks take on the Bulldogs and Tigers in a three-way trial. Those matches are set down to be contested at Bill Delauney Reserve, Reevesby, beginning at 4.00pm, while the final pre-season hitout for the Sharks is up against the Wests Magpies the following Saturday, February 2.
The two Sharks sides are scheduled to face the South Sydney Rabbitohs in round one matches to be played at Toyota Stadium on Saturday, February 9.
