Wednesday 6 February 2013 9:20 AM
While there will be a few notable exceptions, Sharks coach Shane Flanagan has named a strong Sharks line up for his teams first trial match of 2013.
Newcomers Beau Ryan, Michael Gordon, Chris Heighington and Jonathan Wright will run out for the first time in Sharks colours, forwards Isaac De Gois, Wade Graham and Ben Ross will see considerable game time, while Chad Townsend and Jeff Robson are set to get their chance to impress in the halves when the Sharks tackle Manly at Brookvale Oval on Friday night.
Also getting an opportunity to perform at the NRL level and to push the established stars for a berth in the top squad come round one will be the likes of Tupou Sopoaga, Tyrone Peachey, Sosaia Feki and Penani Manumalealii, with all four youngsters having impressed during the pre-season.
The only players missing for the Sharks on Friday will be the Paul Gallen and Andrew Fifita who are at the All Stars match, while Todd Carney, Bruce Gibbs, Luke Lewis and Ben Pomeroy will miss the trial due to injury.
Of the injured brigade, Gibbs has a foot problem, Lewis an abdominal strain and Pomeroy a groin injury but all excepting Carney are expected to be fit to play the Sharks second and final trial against Newcastle on February 23.
