NYC Trial Sharks v Manly - match report

Scott Sorenson had the distinction of crossing for the Sharks first try of the 2013 season as the Sharks NYC enjoyed a solid hot out against Manly at Brookvale Oval.

Despite conceding five tries and scoring three, the Sharks showed some good signs and with a handful of players to return from the NRL and a couple more due back soon from injury the signs were positive for James Shepherd’s 20’s outfit.

After Manly got the early jump with two tries in the first 20 minutes the Sharks bounced back when after some concerted pressure on their opponents line hooker Sorenson beat a couple of would-be defenders to crash over.

Manly were able to add to their advantage with another four-pointer before a smart backline move put Jordan Ten cate into space with the big winger running 10 metres to touch down wide out.

Another Manly try put the score out to four tires to two at the 60 minute mark before both sides ran out some NSW Cup players in the fourth period to bolster the ranks.

Manly scored in the south eastern corner of the field in the final term before new recruit Alipate Ratini scooped up a loose ball and weaved through the middle of the Manly ruck before sprinting 60 metres to score his first try in Cronulla colours
