Beau backs Junior League BBQ challenge

The question has long been debated as to which junior league club has the best barbeque each and every weekend at the various venues around the Sutherland Shire.
From Kurnell, to Como, Blaxland Oval in the west, to Boys Town Oval in the south, all 14 clubs in the Cronulla-Sutherland junior league take great pride in their sausage and steak sandwiches, bacon and egg rolls and whatever else they manage to conjure up each and every week.
Which makes Beau’s BBQ Challenge possibly the most keenly sought after victory throughout the upcoming junior league finals series, with the Sharks Beau Ryan on board to help decide exactly who has the best barbeque offering.
For the next two weeks a panel of judges will visit all the grounds hosting junior league finals matches, with the best barbie, and the winners of the inaugural Beau’s BBQ Challenge, to be announced at the A Grade Grand Final scheduled for Remondis Stadium on September 8.
“The junior footy barbeque is an iconic part of Australian culture. The clubs put a lot of effort into their barbeques,” De La Salle JRLFC President Scott Longmuir said. “This concept is a bit of fun that uses the competitive spirit of the junior league clubs and rewards the effort they put into their barbeques.”
Beau’s BBQ Challenge will declare winners in a number of different categories, with prizes supplied by The Tradies and Club Central Menai.
The following are the categories and prizes for the winners:
• Best Overall BBQ: $1000 Sponsored by The Tradies
• Best Bacon & Egg roll: $500 sponsored by The Tradies
• Best Individual Product: $500 sponsored by The Tradies
• Best Sausage Sandwich: $500 sponsored by Club Central Menai
• Most Exotic Combination: $500 sponsored by Club Central Menai
So get to a junior league venue or two around the Sutherland Shire over the next two weekends and make your own mind up as to which clubs should be the winners of Beau’s BBQ Challenge for 2013.
