The Cronulla Sharks Rugby League Club has withdrawn from the balance of its commitment to play an NRL game at Adelaide’s Hindmarsh Stadium in 2010 and 2011.
Following a turbulent season the club requested the release to concentrate on re-building its relationship with the local Sutherland Shire by playing the majority of its games at its home ground at Toyota Stadium.
Sharks Chief Executive Officer Mr Richard Fisk was appreciative of the South Australian Government agreeing to release the club from its contract and confirmed the importance of re-engaging with the local community.
“The Sharks enjoyed the experience of playing a game in Adelaide in 2009 and whilst it is important to re-build with our fan support in 2010 we are hopeful we will be invited back to help promote the game of rugby league in Adelaide,” Mr Fisk said.
“The club made many new friends in Adelaide and certainly enjoyed the professional way the promotion was undertaken and the positive outcome last year.”
