Sharks centre Ben Pomeroy is heading for Orange in western NSW after receiving the call-up into the City Origin team for the match against Country to be played on Friday night.
Pomeroy has been given the opportunity for what will be his second appearance in a City jersey after young Tiger Chris Lawrence succumbed to an ankle injury.
With his inclusion in the City side, Pomeroy is set to come up against club teammate Anthony Tupou who will play for Country and is the only other Sharks player to take part in the match.
After NSW Origin coach Craig Bellamy’s public statements about the importance of the City-County clash as a selection trial for places in the NSW team, the Sharks pair will be keen to put their best foot forward on Friday night.
Injury has forced a number of changes to the originally selected City and Country line ups, with Mark O’Meley a late addition to the City team and Chris Heighington and Brett White coming into the Country squad.
The City v Country clash will kick off at 7.30pm in Orange on Friday, with the game to be shown on delay following the telecast of the Australia-New Zealand test match.
